Cross-Pollinations: Perspectives on Art and Sustainability
Friday, 11 July 2025 – 4:00 PM
Be enchanted by an afternoon full of colour, imagination, and inspiration. Contour Gallery warmly invites you to a special encounter between art and nature. Artist Margriet Smulders and landscape historian Mariette Kamphuis will take you into their world, where flowers come to life as artworks and storytellers.
Loofwerk, the organic flower nursery and creative workshop founded by Mariette Kamphuis on the Op Hodenpijl estate, is a place where craftsmanship, history, and ecology come together. Here, flowers grow not only for their beauty but also as a source of connection and sustainability. Margriet Smulders, known for her seductive floral still lifes, draws inspiration from Greek mythology and feminine power. In her work, organic flowers – from velvety irises to fiery tulips – transform into lush, dreamlike landscapes that invite you to lose yourself.
Come and listen, look, and join the conversation about the surprising cross-pollination between flower culture and contemporary art. Discover how flowers tell stories about our lives, our surroundings, and the art of celebration.
Don’t miss this inspiring afternoon!
