Margriet Smulders shows excellence in combining the expression of her work of art placed in particular surroundings, like in this church. As one enters the church, a new work shows a dominating colour red, right under the red remnants of statues lost in the iconoclastic fury. The reflection of water in a photorealistic moment, combined with the light coming in through stained-glass windows.
One would almost think it’s been done thoughtlessly, but not with Margriet.
